Annapurna base camp trek is a distinctive trek, full of enormous mountain scenes, an enthralling visual into the modern hill life of Nepal. The trek is tough but is rewarding one as it has an astonishing walk through varied landscape and culture that is rich in mountain landscapes, stepped fields, picturesque and some eclectic varieties of flora and fauna.

The scenic view of Himalayan beauty Machhapuchhre, Himchuli and other contiguous peaks leads you to the entrance of Annapurna Sanctuary or the entrance to Annapurna Base Camp. Throughout our trek we witness the rich cultural diversity of remote farms or villages attained by Gurung ethnological tribes, popular all over the world for their self-assurance and heroism.

Mt. Annapurna (8091m) is the 10th highest mountain in the world, and the trip to its base camp that lies within 4130m/13549ft altitude, is the most celebrated walks on earth. We commence out destination with flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara.  Our trail heads to Nayapul that lies approximately within 43.1 km from Pokhara. The trek goes uphill with the picturesque view of stunning valley, farming lands and people working there.

Our walk initiates with reflection of scenic and beautiful Pokhara city and moving deep into the forests crossways valleys, we ascend to small settlement of Hiley where we will stay overnight. Next day, we will proceed our journey towards Ghorepani, where we will enjoy the best views and landscapes. The early morning short hike to Poonhill compensate us with its enchanted sunrise over Annapurna which stands as dream come true feeling. Walking ahead, we cross Tadapani, Chomrong villages, where we will be fascinated by their cultural traits. One can explore the vicinity and capture the changing colours of the massif and camp overnight.

Annapurna is one of the spectacular region of Nepal which can be much beneficial for the growth of Tourism and Adventurous Trekking.  This adventurous trekking in Annapurna started and became much popular Adventure Trekking in Nepal as well as in the World, after the French Adventurer Maurice Herzog had a first ascent in 1953. The adventurous walk allows us to be in the heart of almighty mountains swiftly and safely from Pokhara.

Journey starts from Pokhara to Poonhill where we enjoy a marvellous panoramic view of the Annapurna range, as well as the nearby views of the Machhapuchhare, Annapurna South, Annapurna II and Lamjung. We move into beautiful villages to enter Modi River gorge that is jam-packed with dense trees, reaching a high wide valley at Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural and magnificent amphitheatre of Himalayan giants and tumbling glaciers. And then heading towards our destination within Annapurna Base Camp. Annapurna Base Camp is one of the most theatrical and mighty locations in Nepal. Staying at the lodge, we enjoy the gigantic south face of Annapurna 1 (8091m), Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare.

We will then return following the same trail till the Chhomrong. Our route will then descend to Jhinu dada where you will have an opportunity to enjoy the natural hot shower at hot spring. Then you will trek to Pothana leads us to Nayapul and back to Pokhara.

01How my Character needs to be, is this trek for me?

• Annapurna base camp trek suits for people who are fit, no need to be experienced. It will be good if you are concerned on your physical fitness like running, swimming, hiking. We in fact recommend to embark these exercises for your journey.
• If you are suffering from kind of any medical condition, we suggest you to seek medical advice from your doctors before coming to trek.
• Trekking is not an easy task, so you need to be aware regarding the discomfort before being adapted in the regions.
• It is better you prepare for trekking for at least 2/3 months before you depart, an aerobic exercise would be pretty much good and needs to follow 3/4 times per week as a minimum requirement.

02What is the procedure of airport pickup, will someone come there for me on my arrival?

• The procedure of airport pickup is that we will send one of our representative to pick you up. He will stand there holding the sign of Trailblazer Tours and Treks outside the terminal, he will greet you and transfer you to your respected hotel in our private vehicle.

03How can I get visa for Nepal? Is it upon on arrival at the airport?

Yes, the visa is on arrival and it is easy to get at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. And the visa differs accordingly on the basis of your stay in Nepal. The more you stay you need to pay more, but you will get Tourist Visa with Multiple Entries. As US $ 25 for 15 days, and for 30 days you need to pay

04Do I need any extra documents?

• It’s hassle free, as you just need to bring a copy of your travel insurance, your passport with 3 (passport sizes) photos while coming for trip to Nepal. The photos are needed for permits.

05What kind of facilities will be there in Kathmandu, Pokhara and within Trekking?

• Our motto is to give perfect service to our customers, for that reason we do not compromise with the standard. We will transfer you to standard rooms at three-star hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara as per our commitment.
• We are much concerned with the health of our customers, so during the trek along teahouses, guesthouses we provide clean rooms, with basic facilities.
• We can also provide our own sleeping bags but it is the best idea to have your own during trekking.
• The lodges within the treks normally provides single and double room. If possible, there will be dining around a bon fire. The toilet in teahouses are full with crucial and basic facilities.

06As the weather is cold, do guesthouses heated or have air-conditioning facilities?

• As the weather is cold but the guest houses do not facilitate with air-conditioners or heaters. However, when it gets colder above 3500m, they have the minimal facility to hit the dining room by using kerosene or metal heater. To use this facility, you have to spend some dollars.

07Can I please know about the toilet facilities along the trail?

There are toilet facilities in teahouse/guesthouse but apart from that while on trek and in emergency case you find some secluded place and go for toilet.

08I have heard about foods not being that hygienic, can you please clarify this? What kind of food can we expect during our journey?

• Yes, there is rumor but it is better to visit and experience on your own. We are much concerned with the hygiene and the cook in most teahouses/lodges in Annapurna Base Camp trail are experienced in cooking a delicious range of food items.
• You can enjoy the varieties of food ranging from pasta, potatoes, lentils, soups, fresh vegetables, eggs and many more. They will even serve you tasty dessert. There will the non-vegetarian items too, you even enjoy with chocolates, hot drinks, soft drinks, and chips.

09How is the drinking water facility in the trekking zones?

• There isn’t any problem for bottled water as it is easily available at guesthouse and lodges. But Yesh above Chhomorng you need to take purified water as plastic bottles are banned by Annapurna conservation area.
• If you have plan to drink normal water you must bring some kind of purifying drops or any kind of purifier with you.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu via international flights

Welcome by our staff member and Trailblazer Tours and Trek will allocate to your corresponding hotel. In the afternoon you can travel around the streets of Kathmandu valley and around the Thamel area or have a short visit to Trailblazer Tours and Trek office. Brief information regarding Trek with welcome dinner in Authentic Nepalese restaurants with cultural programs. Night stay in Kathmandu.

Day 2Fly or Drive to Pokhara

We will take an early morning flight to Pokhara, the city of beautiful lakes and enjoy the astonishing views of snow-capped Himalayas. During this short flight, you will have breath-taking views of splendid Manaslu Peaks as well as the snow-capped Annapurna and Langtang Himalaya range. There is another option that you can take a Tourist bus to Pokhara which is about 6-7-hour drive via picturesque Prithivi Highway where you can enjoy sweet and short stops for lunch and breakfast and throughout the journey you will delight in beautiful views. After reaching you will be transferred to the hotel, after short refreshment, you can walk around the lakeside city on your own, enjoy the city of lakes visiting stunning Phewa lake where you can even get pleasure by the reflection of breath-taking views of Annapurna Himalaya Range in the tranquil green lake. There you even can visit Bindavasini Temple which is at the centre of the lake and the only accessible is by boat.

Day 3Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (1,570m) 4 hours

Our journey starts after having breakfast, we ride approx. for 1 hour in private vehicle to Nayapul, after reaching we initiate our first part of trekking to Tikhedunga (1577M) Passing through Birethanti (1065m.) This trek is much easier and also livelier as we pass through beautiful tiny villages and settlements. Spending some time walking we will ascend to our final destination gently, and night stays at Guesthouse.

Day 4Trek to Ghorepani 2,850 m - 06 hrs.

After breakfast at the guesthouse, we begin our trek and ascend hard for 2 hours smoothly passing through Ulleri (2070m.) and Banthanti, villages. Walking through this way offers us some magnificent views of snow-capped Machhapuchhare (6997m.), Hiunchuli (6441m.), and also the majestic Annapurna (7219m) south. The trail goes much easier now as we enter through the blooming rhododendron with ethereal forests surrounded by the squealing of birds that energizes and soothes us with good feeling till we ascend softly towards our destination camp to the Ghorepani. Night stay at Lodge here.

Day 5Trek to Poonhill 2,630 m - 06 hrs.

Today we Trek up to Poon Hill (3232m) for an hour to relish the early morning view of the sunrise and breath-taking views of the Mountains including the Annapurna South (7219 m), Fishtail (6993 m.), Himchuli (6441 m), Tukuche Peak (6920 m), Nilgiri (6940 m), Dhaulagiri (8168 m.) and other bright snow-capped mountains. After breakfast again in the Hotel in Ghorepani trek to Tadapani (2650m.) Poonhill undisputedly stands as an emblem of beauty for the Annapurna region, after then our journey ascends to Ghorepani and enjoy the hot breakfast at our lodge and again starts our trek to Tadapani (2650m.) where we will stay our night.

Day 6Trek to Chhomrong from Tadapani

We trail an adequate descend from Tadapani through the impenetrable oak forests along with colossal rhododendron forests and fine terraces. We continue our journey through the uncontained woodland and forest to reach the gateway of Annapurna Sanctuary, the Chommrong village, which is highly populated by the ethnic group of Nepal the Gurungs. Chommrong is also named as Gurung village. This village is very fascinating with lots of lodges, serving good foods for customers. The village can engulf us by portraying the view of the gigantic peak of Annapurna South along with the Machhapuchhre. Overnight will be here at a lodge, where you can enjoy the cordiality of the Gurung community.

Day 07Chhomrong to Dovan and Himalaya (2540m): 4-5 hrs

After the breakfast Our trail descends from Chommrong through the stone stairs, crossing the Chommrong river on the suspension bridge. Walking for one and a half hours we then ascent out of the side valley. After then we will move upward on a rock-strewn trail that goes through the bamboo forests, with beautiful rhododendron and oak, from where we reach to stunning Sinuwa village lying at 2350m. After reaching Sinuwa village we gradually trek along the forest and go downhill a bit long way having stone stair within deep bamboo and rhododendron forests and move upward to Dovan and Himalaya. We stay overnight here and enjoy the night.

Day 08Trek to Machhapuchhre Base Camp

Our trek starts with a subtle climb through Modi Khola valley and move across more avalanche paths and also cross debris & a stream. The trail rises steeply above the mountainside. After a balanced hike, we spot ourselves in the Machhapuchhre Base Camp. This is time to enjoy the exceptional scenic views of magnificent Machhapuchhre along with other stunning mountains like Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharva Chuli and Gangapurna. Overnight stay at teahouse.

Day 09Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at 4,130 m - 03 hrs

Our trek starts early morning to Annapurna base camp to enter Annapurna Sanctuary. While we move from MBC to ABC the flora disappears. Now our eye will be struck with the snow rocks melting and forming the small streams. We spot at Annapurna Base Camp after the two-hour arduous climb and faces a welcome sign-post of Annapurna Base Camp. Congratulations !! you have now touched the Annapurna Base Camp. Reaching at 4130 m. one will be awe-struck with the celebrated bases of the wonderful Mt. Annapurna. You will overwhelm with the never before experience standing in front of the spectacular view of the sun rising at the near front, the south face of 10th tallest mountain Annapurna in the world, soaring above us. Fine Lunch and Night stay at Annapurna base camp with ostentatious mountain views

Day 10Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,310 m) – 07 hrs.

After waking up early in the morning, we relish the incredible sunrise over the Himalayas from Annapurna base camp.
• After taking breakfast we descend from Annapurna base camp to Bamboo. It’s now time heading back down to the valley and this time it is much easier than climbing up. Passing through, you will see the waterfalls that drop down from a high point to the rocks below. We even pass through the forests with great views of the Fishtail and Hiunchuli mountains. As our progress of descending goes by following the same track, we elevate back through Machhapuchhre base camp, Deurali, Himalaya, Dovan and finally will reach at Bamboo. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 11Trek to Jhinu village from Bamboo 1,780m with Hot Spring - 06 hrs.

Our journey starts from Bamboo; we have a sheer ascent to the Kuldi Ghar till we reach to Sinuwa. We follow the stone staircase that leads us to Lower Chhomrong after then we ascend to Upper Chhomrong within thousand stony steps. Our journey is covered with the lavishness of beautifully bloomed Rhododendrons in different colors of red, white and pink, standing in contrast with green bamboo forests. After reaching Chhomrong we make our way descending to Jhinu Danda. Today you will have a chance to enjoy, bathe in the hot springs lying just a 15-min walk from Jhinu Danda. One can have relief in this naturally healthy hot spring and take full-on rest as well as revitalize yourself. You can explore and cherish the area nearby.

Day 12Jhinu Dada to Tolka leading to Pothana (1900m)

Today we descend and then move through flat land till you reach Himal Pani, here we will be enthralled by a stunning waterfall.
• After this, our trail ascends smoothly passing several watercourses and terraces. After a short trek, we will stop at Landruk village (1545m), a lovely big village full of a diverse community, Gurung, Magar, and Brahmin as well. From Landruk Village our trail ascends gently to Tolka (1700m.) and our continual walk leads us to Bherikharka, from here we trail steeply up to Deurali (2100m.) enjoying the panoramic view of diverse mountain peaks. Finally, our trail slowly descends to Pothana facing different oak forests. Pothana a small town belonging to the Gurung community, an ethnic group of Nepal. You can delight in the grand visions of several mountain peaks. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 13Trek to Dhampus phedi and drive to Pokhara (850m)

We trek to Dhampus from Pothana which will takes us roughly three hours. The trail gently descends up to Dhampus, a village mostly populated by Gurung community. After reaching, you take a vehicle to Pokhara from Dhampus Phedi, it takes approx. 35 minutes. At Pokhara, you will be transferred to respective hotels for overnight near Fewa lake. You have enough time to walk around the beautiful clean streets and enjoy the nightlife at Pokhara.

Day 14Drive / Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Early Morning drive on the hectic but stimulating highway to Kathmandu. You will have lunch after 2-3 hrs journey on route, then touchback the Kathmandu valley. Today you have much leisure time to accomplish your personal activities and shopping is always there for memento back to home. Note: Flight will take you to Kathmandu in 30 minutes)

Day 15Enjoy Kathmandu with your personal activities or short sightseeing

You have a free day in Kathmandu, thus one can join for an optional tour nearby Kathmandu valley. Delight in relaxing with reminiscences of your achievement at Annapurna Base Camp

Day 16Transfer to airport for your International Departure
