Baden Powell Scout Peak Climbing Information:

Locally known as Urkema Peak, it was renamed Baden Powell Scout Peak (5,890m) in 2006. The peak was named after the father of the Scouts movement by the Nepal Government to mark the centenary celebration of the International Scouts Movement.
The first official historical climb was held from 28 August to 16 September 2007 in conjunction with the centenary year of Scouting. On 13th September 2007, the Baden Powell Scout Peak has finally been reached by 15 Scouts from five countries namely, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Nepal. Likewise, BP Scout Peak was climbed by scouts from Finland on 2010, Japan on 2012, Nepal on 2016 & UK and Nepal in 2017..
In order to show Scouting’s profound gratitude to the government and tourism support in Nepal, we are promoting the Baden Powell Scout Peak of Nepal Scouts to the World Scouting & Guiding.

In the Afternoon we will visit Thamel and even will visit Trailblazer travel and Tours office and introduces our self and have some discussion regarding the trek. Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03Syabrubesi trek to Gatlang (approx. 5.5 hours)

Syabrubesi is the common starting point for the Langtang Valley trek as well as the Gosainkund trek, but instead of heading in these directions, ascend a view point for an hour and a half for a fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, the Gosainkund range, and the Goljang Valley. Head down to the Goljang Valley (about an hour’s walk) and stop there for lunch. In the afternoon, trek for about three hours to reach Gatlang, a beautiful Tamang village.

Day 04Gatlang to Tatopani (approx. 7 hours)

Today’s walk begins by descending to Thangbuchet, by a lovely river. After lunch, the trail heads up again, across a hanging bridge and climbing to Tatopani, your stop for the night. The town’s name literally means ‘hot water’ in Nepali, and there are towns of this name all over Nepal. Unsurprisingly, here you can enjoy the natural hot springs, with water that comes straight out of the ground. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality, and it will certainly ease away any aches and pains from the trek.

Day 05Tatopani to Nagthali Danda (approx. 3 hours)

Today, the trail ascends to Nagthali Danda (3,300 m./ 10,826 ft.), a high, open grassland with amazing views of the Himalayas. Stop at the delightful Brimdang village for lunch en route, then continue up to Nagthali Danda. On arrival, stop for a masala chiya (tea), prepared by the gompa’s caretaker.

Day 06Nagthali to Briddim (approx. 7 hours)

Today’s walk begins along a flatter section of trail, then descends to Timure. It follows part of the old trade route to Tibet, and in fact, Tibet is not far away—just three hours’ walk. However, it’s not possible to walk across the border these days, and there’s a heavy police presence along the roads in this area. After lunch, the trail continues to Briddim, another Tamang village, where you’ll stay in a local home for a truly unique experience. All accommodation, lodgings, and food are offered at local houses on a rotational basis, so you can be sure that your stay is benefitting the whole community and not just one or two enterprising families (as is sometimes the case with hotels and lodges).

07Trek to Briddim trek Lamal Hotel ( (approx. 6 hours)

Trek Back to Lama Hotel

08Trek to Langtang village [3500m] / (5hrs.)

From Lama hotel, we continue the ascent above the Langtang Khola. As the trail progresses, it becomes steeper. We have the most exotic sights of Langtang Lirung lying at 7246 m. The trail leads to a log bridge and on climbing further we come across lush meadows of Ghora Tabela at 3000m. We will see several lodges and a police check post. Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages with water-driven mills and prayer wheels. We arrive at Langtang village after crossing a stream and reaching up a height of 3500 meters. Langtang village is the headquarters for Langtang National Park and has flat-roofed Tibetan style houses, hotels and cultivated lands yielding buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, barley etc..

Day 09Trek to Kyangjin [3800m] / (4 hrs.)

The trail skirts gradually through rich yak pastures and interesting traditional villages of Muna to Singdun. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. Finally, on ascending the mountain passes, we arrive at Kyangjin Gompa. There is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory..

Day 10Day to explore the Kyanging valley and climb the Cherko Ri ( 5033 m.) to view the mountain range.

Day to explore the Kyanging valley and climb the Cherko Ri ( 5033 m.) to view the mountain range.

Day 11Kyanjin Gompa to BP Scout High Camp (4987m)

BP High Camp (4987m) The route from the base to high camp is an uphill climb. This little trek goes up through a rhododendron forest. We follow the rhododendron bushes and cross a river. We head in a westerly direction up to the mountain and moved towards the south. The high camp at 4,987 m, takes around 6 to 7 hours to reach from Kyangjin. The place where we set up our high camp is good very open. It is a large rocky area but has fresh water flowing through it. The view from the high camp is fantastic. To the north, you have the magnificent view of Langtang Lirung, Langshisa Ri and Shisapangma in Tibet. To the south, the impressive south face of Naya Kanga (5844m) towers above. Since the camp area is totally flat, we can put up our tents easily. We pass the night at the high camp.

Day 012Rest a in high camp & acclimatization.

Rest a in high camp & acclimatization.

Day 13Summit Baden Powell Scout Peak (5890m)

From high camp, we cross the rocky field and climb up about 50 meters until we get to a rocky slab on the right. From there we ascend the snowy 30-degree slope that leads to a glacier, which soon becomes a large glacial bowl. We zigzag our way up, keeping to the right, aiming towards the rock face to the west. From here, the slope gets a little bit steeper. Ropes are fixed. We stay on the ice and climb around the rocks until we get to the top of the ridge at about 5,890m.
