Bird Watching Tour Itinerary

Day 1Arrival and Greetings in Kathmandu Airport

• On your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu, one of our representative will pick you up after greeting will transfer you to your respected hotels.
• There at hotel you may take rest and freshen yourself as you had long flight. After you can visit Trailblazer’s office, there we will have brief discussion about processing, check our necessary equipment and other required documents like National Park permits, special permits and other related documents.
• We will have welcome dinner in a traditional Nepali restaurant, with different menu esp. the authentic Nepali Cuisine with some cultural program.
• Night stay in Kathmandu.

Day 2Initiate Bird watching from Godavari

• We start our bird watching tour having a short city tour to watch birds, we will mainly stroll around the Bagmati and Manohara rivers.
• After then we will go towards our next destination in the evening time in Godavari Botanical Garden to watch numerous birds.
• Stay overnight in hotel at Godavari.

Day 3Trip around Godavari-Phulchowki Hill-Kathmandu

• Today, we will hike up to Phulchowki hill after having some breakfast. We will leave with lunch pack too.
• As we move on the hillside trail which is fully covered with dense forest encompassing various birds and floras as well.
• After walking for some hours we reach to Phulchowki. Phulchowki comprises higher density of bird species- it is estimated that around 90 species have been recorded in this area which includes the widespread spring babbler as well as the Curia, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Rufous Bellied Pied Woodpeckers, the Black-throated Parrot bill and many more.
• We will return back to Kathmandu in the evening.

Day 4Bird Watching in Nagarjun Forest and Shivapuri Wildlife Conservation

• On this day we move forward to Shivapuri, there are two option to reach Shivapuri, we can take any way, either from Sundarijal or from Budhanilkatha.
• Shivapuri Park is popular destination for bird watchers as it is home for around 318 species of birds, some of the birds to mention are Laughing Thrush, Crested Serpent Eagle, little Pied Fly Catchers, Rupy-throats and Babblers.
• Likewise, Nagarjun too have higher density of different species of birds such as Northern Eagle Owl, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Long-tailed Mountain Thrush, Chestnut-headed Bee-Eater, Maroon Oriole, Large Hawk Cuckoo, and Eurasian Woodcock and many more, and you can have a close look at these birds.
• In the evening we return back to Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 5Travelling from Kathmandu to Chitwan

• Today we will drive to Chitwan, as it about 4 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. After reaching Chitwan National Park we will check in the hotel.
• As we have leisure time today so we can stroll nearby villages or can visit elephant breeding centre or even have pleasure on our own.
• Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 6Bird Tour at Chitwan

• Our day starts with tea or coffee, after then we have a walk on foot within natures to encounter with early morning environment and the birds.
• We will walk all the day and have full day bird watching trip in different vegetation of the national park, we move from wetlands to grasslands to deep Sal forest as well. As Chitwan is famous for Jungle Safari or Jeep Safari so we even can go for that to have close look on varieties of birds in the deep forest.
• Chitwan National Park comprises of about more than 500 species of birds which includes Blue Indian Roller, Stork-billed Kingfishers, Bengal Florican, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Bee-eaters, Cormorants and many more.

Day 07Journey from Chitwan to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

• Today we will drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve from Chitwan as early as we can, after reaching we will have much time to go for bird watching safari in Reserve.
• Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is home for over 450 species of birds that is recorded so far. This place is blend of scrubland and deciduous riverine forest, because of which, has become the home for numerous birds.
• During the day we will encounter with different species of birds and among them are Black Ibis, Honey Kites, Ospreys, Black Headed Orioles, Peregrine Falcon, Partridges, Storks etc.

Day 08Whole day Bird watching in Koshi Tappu

• Today, our whole day is full of excitement as we will have an opportunity to see more than 400 species of birds, we will walk through the marshland, explore the inaccessible sandbanks and walk on the islands of mighty Koshi River.
• We will even get chance to see various migratory species of birds from Siberia like, Sarus. It will be a lifetime experience as we will get opportunity to see varieties of birds like ducks, storks, herons and egrets, and lots more endangered species of birds like partridges and Bengal floricans.
• Koshi Tappu is not only famous for birds rather it is home/hub for many wild animals as well. We can see the wild water buffalo, blue cows, various species of deer, dolphins and gharials as well.

Day 09Back to Kathmandu

• Today we will drive or take a flight back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu we will have some rest and in the evening we will stroll around the streets of Kathmandu and enjoy the moment.
• During this period, you even can go for shopping to take memories and gift back to you home for loved ones.
• You can go for some entertainment in pub or club in the evening. Night stay at hotel

Day 10Leisure day in Kathmandu

• It is a leisure day, so you can go for outing within Kathmandu valley.
• Enjoy your last day of Nepal stay till next visit. During this free time, you can just walk around the streets of Thamel, Kings way and even buy some souvenirs to take back home from Nepal.
• In the evening we Trailblazer Tours and Travels will host a farewell Nepali dinner accompanied with typical Nepali cultural dance.

Day 11Farewell and Departure

• Today our journey comes to an end. One of the staff member from Trailblazer Tours and Trek will drop you at the Tribhuwan International Airport.
• On your way back you will have plenty of time to recall your journey and plan for the next schedule.
