Everest View Trekking FAQs

What is the procedure to sign up for Everest Base Camp Trekking?

This sign up process depends on your time and duration for trek. Booking can be done at least 2-3 weeks ahead from our departure date. But be sure to check your medical and physical health before signing the trip. Another important thing is to purchase medical and travel insurance for this kind of adventurous treks in Himalayas.

Is trekking possible only in group or single too can book? And Can you let me know about the weather there in Everest?

There isn’t mandatorily to be in group, we allow to book for single but with some conditions. But if you are looking for group it can vary from minimum 3-4 person to maximum of 10-15 persons.
The best time to trek is from March to May, as this is time when day remains clear and temperature stays from minimum 0° to 20° Celsius depending upon the altitude and areas. This is the perfect time to trek, because from morning till days the vision remains clear where we can relish the views and even walk for short, but sometimes afternoon can be over casted with little rain and snow.
March to May is the time of full bloom of various species of Rhododendron that is much lively and eye-catching.

What sort of the guesthouse/cottage and Tea-House are there within Treks?

Long before Tea house were supposed to be the place to have Tea especially and used to be small but now the scenario has been changed, these days each village have more than 10 to 20 good guesthouse/lodges with pleasant rooms to stay on. And On altitude of above 4,000 the lodges are good but some have toilets and bathrooms outside but some have inside too.
All rooms are cosy and have heating facilities to make your stay much pleasant and entertaining.

Is electricity and network for cell-phones available there?

Yes. Electricity is available mostly run by hydro-power in most of the places. But after Namche and Thyangboche much of power supply is private of the lodge owners mostly the solar power to activate electric just for the lodge and as well for customers to charge their computers and cell-phones.
Network is not that big problem, condition has been changed a lot these days. Even remote villages had good support phones with good network connection. Leaving some places mostly in deep regions around river gorge, there is good networks for cell phones and also good internets/Wi-Fi. Dingboche and some areas having high altitude and hills comprehend good networks.
And except in bad weather condition the networks can be shattered, otherwise it is fine.

What will happen when someone gets sick and have to leave the trek?

We are not just good in saying but in real too. We do not leave our customers in vulnerable situation. If this kind of situation occurs, we will give more priority to the victim. We have well equipped and knowledgeable guides in emergency and as well as in medical purpose. Depending on the seriousness of the victim we will transfer him/her for acute medical attention. We have Helicopter-services to those to take them to hospital as soon as possible.
And if someone suffers from modest AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), it is better to take rest and have excessive fluid. We will deploy extra guide to take care of sick clients till he / she recovers on route treks and if condition worsens we will guide them to descend to safer areas and even manage an advance flight to Kathmandu.

What kind and how hygienic food will be served during treks lodges on route?

We are here to give the best to or clients, regarding meals everything is prepared as per clients’ menu items, all foods items are prepared with much concern of hygiene, avoiding any complaints and holding the reputation of the lodges. In fact, most of lodges are serving for more than two decades to world-wide travellers with ethics.

I have heard people could get sick while on treks, can you clarify the reason behind this?

It is true what you have heard. But, getting sick is unpredictable, anyone can be sick at any time but talking about trek, the primary reason behind being sick is food during treks. As Asian foods are a bit spicy comparing to other, so because of not getting used with the food makes they sick. It is a sudden change on diets. There may be different concept regarding this question but hearing rumours and facing the reality on your own gives the crystal clear view.
And we suggest all our clients to get better advice from your guides before and after the treks, what to eat and what not to eat, what are the best food to consume and many more. Next thing that we strongly advocate to our visitors is to avoid meat items in initial period as it may not be hygienic and could be meat of a week time or more. The best way to get rid of getting sick is to be vegetarian for sometimes and stay healthy till acclimatization to local environment and culture.

What types of medication do I need to bring from home? Can you please circulate the major factors and precautions one should take care within treks?

Firstly, we recommend to bring the general medication from home consulting your doctor. There are some basic medicines against diarrhoea, headache, fever, flu as well constipation including first aid for cuts-wounds and burns as well. Apart from this general medicines, carry your personal medicines recommended by your doctor.
We are much concerned to our client’s health and safety too, so in every trip we carry comprehensive medical kits.
Beside these medication clients’ always needs to stick with the rules of the company and suggestion of guides / leader. Most of the travellers suffers from stomach disorder and this is considered as the main disease and this is because of change in food and climate. Be aware of spicy food but if you have travelled mostly in South Asian countries, the food will not be a problem.
AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) is another issue during trek and can happen to anyone not familiar walking in higher elevation. Because of the high altitude one might suffer from AMS. Concerning this we have designed our itinerary in that way where people can acclimatize well within relaxation days in high places before reaching much higher altitude.
There are medicines which can be used as high altitude pills, but needs consult the doctors before taking the right dose, thus can be helpful to regulate the flow of blood from getting clots in high altitude. Apart from that drinking plenty of water, juice, rehydration drink, black tea and taking rest when got tired can help to get rid from AMS.
