Gurung Cultural is one such trail that provides the first-hand experience of Gurung culture and lifestyles to the visitors. The trek starts from Hudi Bazzar of Lamjung district. The trails passes through various Gurung settlements of Ghalegaun, Ghanapokhara, Bhujung, Pasgaun, Nagidhar, and Pakhrikot. Wonderful views of Annapurna range can be seen during the trek. Every village on the way has its own mother’s group or Aama Samuha that are active and dedicated to the development of their village. They are also active in hospitality, environment protection, and cultural programs, conflict management in the society as well as family and various income-generating activities.

Gurung Cultural Trek FAQs

01On what shape do I need to be, and how can I proceed this trip?

Mardi Himal trek is for normal people who are reasonably fit, that means no need to have experience before. Before starting the trek, we suggest you to be more concerned towards fitness by running, swimming, and short hiking as well.
If the person is suffering from any medical complexity, he/she must seek for the medical advice/consent prior planning of the trek. As trek is an adventurous journey so it is pretty common that one might suffer health problem, before that you must acclimatized yourself.

02After my arrival at airport, who will come to pick me up?

One of the representative from our company Trailblazer Travels and Tours will be there at Airport to pick you up and her will transfer you to your respected hotel.

03What is the visa procedure in Nepal, is it on arrival or I need to apply before my journey?

The visa procedure is very easy here. You will get visa on arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport. 30 days’ multiple tourist visa and more can be obtained accordingly the payment.

04What kind of documents should I bring?

You need to bring your passport, copy of your travel insurance and pass port sized photos.

05Can you please let me know about accommodation in Kathmandu, Pokhara and within the trekking route?

The accommodation in Kathmandu, Pokhara and within trekking is of good standard. We will provide 3 stars’ hotels room in Kathmandu and Pokhara. And along the trekking route there are pretty good teahouse and guesthouse with maximum facilities with hygienic and tasty food. The clean bed, bedsheets and blankets will be provided.
You can even have sleeping bags if needed, but it is better to have one’s own sleeping equipment during trek. The lodges/guesthouse provide single and double room. At teahouse/guesthouse the food will be cooked by experienced cooks with concept of hygienic one, tastier and different menus.

06Are there toilet facilities within tea house /guesthouse along the trek? And what kind of facilities are there?

Yes. There are good toilet facilities as some teahouse have western styles of flushing toilets yet toilets in higher altitude can squat toilets but clean and having ceramic basin.
Mostly there are good toilet facilities provided by teahouse/guesthouse but sometime in emergency case you just sit wherever you find comfortable along the trail.

07Can I get separate rooms within the trip? What will be the cost for that?

It depends on the availability, if the room is free you can have private room and we do not charge extra for that but normally throughout the trek the rooms are provided on sharing basis and there can be hall styled room available too.
In Kathmandu and Pokhara we can guarantee the single room but during trek in mountains it is not guaranteed.The cost of the rooms too depends on the kind of hotel and facilities you own.

08Are foodshygienic along the route, what kind food can we get, can we expect them to be of certain standard?

There is no compromise on customer’s health. So most of the teahouse(lodges) along this Mardi route, serves the hygienic food with high range of delicious foods with variety. The foods we serve is mostly vegetarian one. Potatoes, eggs, typical Nepalese cuisine: dal, vat, tarkari, soup, bread, green salads and vegetables.
The food is served with certain standard; you can have foods on your chose too. Yu can always be served with tea, hot lemon drinks, soft drinks, chocolates and chips. Our guide will assist or suggest you to stop at good place to have better food that helps you keep you fit, immunize and healthy during trek.

09Is being Vegetarian a problem during trekking? How are the drinking water facilities?

It’s not a problem at all, rather it is good to be vegetarian during the trek. Mostly the lodges serve vegetarian foods and we too recommend you to have vegetarian foods to get rid from food poisoning, as the risk will be high to get sick mostly stomach problem having non-vegetarian food.
The water facilities are good. You can even have bottled water easily within lodges and teahouses. The price differs as new ascends along the trail. The bottled water costs from 1$ to 4$ regarding the elevations.
Apart from that you can have normal drinking water, but you need to have purification iodine and tablets while staying in Pokhara and Kathmandu.

10Will you let me know the best season for trek?

The best season to trek is from the mid of the September to May. As the monsoon starts to drop from early September, so by the end of September the weather is mostly fine and stable. So from September to May the time is best to trek.

11Do we have electricity facility along the route, where I can charge my electronics and electrical appliances?

Yes. The electricity facilities are available in most of the places. Some lodges have solar in high altitudes that can fulfil your needs too. So to charge your electronics and electrical devices isn’t a problem during trek. However, one thing you need to do is to bring the travel adapter/charger to make yourself easy during the trek.

12Are there any possibilities to extend my trekking?

Yes. There is always a possibility of extending the trekking. But there are some conditions you need to apply. We can add your day asper your request with additional costs for guides, porters, accommodation and meals.
If you have any queries regarding adding days, you can even consult your guide and further we can make advancements on extending of days and arrange as per your request.

Gurung Cultural Trek Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel:

Arrive at Kathmandu via International flights, at the airport one of our representatives waiting for you will meet you and pick you up. You will be transferred to your respected hotel; after refreshment, you can explore the streets around your hotel. In the evening the dinner will be served in an authentic Nepalese restaurant and overnight stay at hotel

Day 2Leisure day sightseeing in Kathmandu and nearby:

Today is our leisure day here at Kathmandu, so right after the breakfast, we will go for sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and nearby. Throughout your tour, you will be escorted by one of our professional guide, he will take you mostly to the centre of attraction esp. the World heritage sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhu, Pashupatinath Temple, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square and Bouddhanath Stupa.During our tour you will get time to shop things needed for trekking and we will be back toy hotel for overnight.

Day 3 Drive to Ghalegaun

Early in the morning breakfast and drive from Kathmandu to Ghalegaun. Ghalegaun hosts exemplary home stay facilities. Gurung cultural shows can be observed. Beautiful views for Sunrise and sunset as well as Manaslu and Annapurna ranges can be seen.

Day 4Ghalegaun to Ghanapokhara-Bhujung

Trek to another well populated Gurung village Bhujung. Observe the local lifestyle and Gurung cultural shows.

Day 5Bhujung-Pasgaun

Trek to Pasgaun, a perfect example of community village life of Nepal. Vist hydro project at Midim river, Buddhist monastery and observe Gurung handicraft.

Day 6Pasgaun-Nagidhar-Pakhrikot:

Trek to Nagidhar village. Observe the remains of 200 years old Gurung settlement in the hill and short hike can take to a beautiful lake.

Day 07Pakhrikot-Pokhara:

Drive or back to Pokhara. Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 08Back to Kathmandu from Pokhara:

Early morning our journey towards Kathmandu starts via bus, throughout travelling we can experience the rural settlements, terraced lands, green landscapes around and many beautiful sceneries. We will reach Kathmandu spending approximately 6 hours. Overnight stay at Kathmandu in respected hotel.

Day 9Final departure:

Today is your last day in Nepal, one of the representative from Trailblazer Travels and Tours will transfer you to Tribhuwan International Airport for the final departure.
